About ars shatomica
ars shatomica is a bookish blog dedicated to book reviews, libraries, bookstores, ereaders, ebooks, changes in how we read and how we access information, and whatever else book-related. It is also the home of a personal pet project “Sunsets and Neon Lights: an annotated bibliography of fiction set in Las Vegas.”
About the author
My name is Shay. I have a BA in English from East Carolina University and an MSLS from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I’m an academic librarian living in Edmond, Oklahoma with my calico cat Aphrodite (Dite, for short!). By day, I manage the Metadata & Cataloging department at the University of Central Oklahoma. We provide access to library resources by contributing data to our online catalog as well as the international database WorldCat. Outside of work, I’m Co-Organizer for Nerdy Girls OKC and a board member for its fledgling parent organization, Nerdy Girls. The goal of this organization is to create intelligent community to empower women, and we currently have chapters in OKC, Tulsa, Joplin, and Nashville.

Favorite book I read as a child: Early childhood, I think it was Blueberries for Sal. Late childhood, I was super into Baby Sitter’s Club.
Favorite book I read as a teenager: That would be the Harry Potter series!
Favorite book I read in college: Toss up between Howards End and Land of Little Rain. Both of which were assigned reading for my Literature and Environment class, a class I loved needless to say.
Favorite book I read as an adult: The Shining. I wish I had read it sooner!
